Led by 22-year-old Jose Cepeda, the Wilmington Blue Rocks knocked off the Salem Red Sox, 7-6. Cepeda was 2-6 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice for the Blue Rocks. Wilmington reliever Billy McCurdy got the win, raising his record to 2-1. Rich Brunson was tagged with the loss. The win gives Wilmington a season record of 23-23.

Cepeda had a game-changing home run in the top of the ninth. On a first pitch fastball from Rich Brunson, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the Blue Rocks a 7-6 lead. It was the 2nd home run of the year for Cepeda.

Blue Rocks manager Bobby Clontz wasn't all too pleased, despite the win, telling reporters that the performance highlighted some clear areas for improvement moving forward. He refused to be more specific, however. "I'm not gonna publicize our weaknesses," he said. "That stuff stays in the clubhouse."
