Keys Snatch 3-2 Win
|
Mike Tauber pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Potomac Nationals, despite Tauber's fine outing, dropped a 3-2 decision to the Frederick Keys at G. Richard Pfitzner Stadium. Roland Nobilo, the winner, improved to 6-1. He held the Nationals to 1 run on 3 hits over 5.2 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 5. Luis Cuellar earned save number 1.
Frederick took a 3-1 lead on Mike Schilling's 12th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Schilling hit in the top of the eighth, left Potomac pitcher Tony Flores visibly frustrated.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Frederick manager Jeremy Smejkal said.
The first-place Keys go to 30-17.
