The Wilmington Blue Rocks rode a solid performance from 24-year-old starting pitcher Mike Garner to a win, beating the Salem Red Sox, 4-1, at Salem Memorial Baseball Stadium. Franklin Viveros nailed down the save. The loss makes Salem 13-35.

Wilmington used the hitting of Sergio Lopez to pick up the win. The third baseman clubbed a solo home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Blue Rocks on top, 3-1. For the game, Lopez had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"Mike giving us the start that he did was huge," said Wilmington manager Bobby Clontz.
