Isaiah Joyner, who is tied for 2nd in the CAR with a 0.89 WHIP, was in top form in a tight contest between Winston-Salem and Lynchburg. The Dash right-hander helped his team beat the Hillcats, 3-1. Joyner got the win, improving to 3-1. He gave up 3 hits and walked 1 over 7 innings. He allowed 1 run. Dave Perez sewed up the save, his 10th.
Bill Rivera had a direct impact on the outcome. Rivera contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put Winston-Salem up, 3-0.
"I've been criticized for being a slacker, but the one thing I do care about is winning," Rivera told the Winston-Salem Daily.
Winston-Salem occupies third place in the Southern Division at 27-23.
