Pelicans Earn 2-1 Road Win Over Wilmington
|
The Wilmington Blue Rocks got a superb performance from pitcher Matthew Anderson. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Myrtle Beach. The Pelicans won the game, 2-1. Anderson threw 6.0 innings allowing 2 runs. Myrtle Beach reliever Lorenzo Llamas, who is tied for 9th in the CAR in quality starts with 5, was credited with the win. His record goes to 3-4. Matthew Anderson took the loss for Wilmington. Myrtle Beach leads the Southern Division by 8 games.
Myrtle Beach used a well-timed hit by Adam Laffin to capture the win. The center fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Pelicans ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"It wasn't easy, but we got it done," said Laffin.
