Though he had a great game, Nick Ament could not single-handedly produce a win for Carolina. Lynchburg won the game, 5-2. Ament went 2-4 with a home run and a double. Steve Meece earned the save for Lynchburg, his 1st. The win puts the Hillcats at 24-27, while the Mudcats drop to 25-26.

In the top of the fifth, the Hillcats found themselves in a jam. Carolina had the bases loaded with two out. The score was 5-1, Lynchburg. Danny Baltazar was at the plate, hoping to deal the Hillcats a serious blow. Instead, he struck out to end the threat.
