The Myrtle Beach Pelicans did just enough to nip the Winston-Salem Dash, 3-2, in 10 innings. Myrtle Beach pitcher John Williams, in particular, had a standout performance. Myrtle Beach, at 36-18, is 9 games up in the Southern Division.

The Pelicans got a clutch hit from left fielder Adam Laffin. In the bottom of the tenth, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Pelicans.

"John just settled in and did what he does," said Myrtle Beach manager David Larson.
