The Lynchburg Hillcats beat the Potomac Nationals, 5-1, at G. Richard Pfitzner Stadium. Lynchburg third baseman Mike Laudon had an outstanding performance. He went 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. Paul Frey got credit for the win, improving to 2-1. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 6 innings. With the win over Potomac, the Hillcats improved to 25-30.

In the bottom of the eighth, Jake Krause stood in the box, looking for a pitch to hammer. The Nationals were trailing 4-1, but had runners on 1st and 3rd. That's when Jay Courtney made a terrific pitch and Krause flied out. Gone was the dream of a Potomac comeback.
