Win Makes Lynchburg 34-23
|
Lynchburg beat Winston-Salem at Ed Smith Stadium, eking out a 5-4 win. The triumph was primarily due to designated hitter Hugo Quevedo. He threw 6.2 innings of 4-hit ball. Earning his 12th save of the year was Jose Leon. With the win, the Hillcats improved to 34-23.
Bill Lester had a big bases-clearing double for the Hillcats in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Lynchburg leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a changeup from 25-year old right-handed pitcher Alfredo Silva and swatted a double to right. It was his 3rd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Hillcats ahead, 4-0.
"I like our moxie," said Hillcats manager Diego Perez.
