Blue Rocks Dealt 3-2 Loss by Carolina
|
Starting pitcher Juan Alvarez gave the Carolina Mudcats a rock-solid performance, helping his team defeat the Wilmington Blue Rocks, 3-2, at Grainger Stadium. Carolina now sports a record of 28-29.
Brandon Thomas had a big solo home run for the Mudcats in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Carolina leading 2-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a changeup from Jake Niemann, who is tied for 8th in the CAR with a 1.15 WHIP, and punished it. The result was his 5th home run of the season, which put the Mudcats on top, 3-0.
Said losing manager Bobby Clontz: "We've got to find a way to push a run across."
