In a low-scoring contest between the Lynchburg Hillcats and the Winston-Salem Dash, 26-year old right-handed pitcher Alfredo Silva proved to be the difference. The Lynchburg right-hander earned props for his performance in the 1-0 Hillcats win. Silva picked up the win for Lynchburg, going 7 innings. He gave up no runs on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 1-0. David Tracy earned the save, his 1st.

Lynchburg used a well-timed hit by Alex Ramirez to capture the win. The first baseman socked a run-scoring double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Hillcats ahead, 1-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.

"Not too many highlights on our side," said losing manager Sam Simmons.

The losses continue to add up for Winston-Salem, having now dropped 8 straight.
