In a low-scoring contest between the Lynchburg Hillcats and the Winston-Salem Dash, Miguel Gauna was the X factor. The Lynchburg right-hander spearheaded the 3-1 win. Lynchburg goes to 35-23. The win puts them 2½ games up in their division.

The Hillcats got a big at-bat from right fielder Danny Flores. For the game, Flores was 1-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Lynchburg a 2-1 lead.

Lynchburg manager Diego Perez called it "a darn good win."
