Mudcats Score Late, Clip Blue Rocks, 6-5
|
The Carolina Mudcats and Wilmington Blue Rocks obliged fans hoping for an exciting game.
Jose Ochoa did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Wilmington Blue Rocks from being beaten, 6-5, to the Carolina Mudcats at Grainger Stadium. Ochoa was 2-3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. With this game in the books, Carolina is 28-31, Wilmington 30-29.
Had Bill George not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, George hit a 2-run single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Mudcats.
"I hate to be the fly in the ointment," said George, "but we could've played better."
