Red Sox Tag Mudcats with 11-5 Loss
|
With right fielder Danny Campos leading the charge, the Salem Red Sox defeated the Carolina Mudcats, 11-5, at Grainger Stadium. Campos was 2-4 with 2 singles and 2 walks, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. Luis Vasquez earned the win for Salem. He lasted 5.1 innings, allowing 4 runs on 9 hits, while striking out 8. With the win, he raised his record to 2-6. Robert Campa picked up the save for Salem, his 4th of the year.
Matt Charles had a clutch at-bat with two out in the top of the sixth for the Red Sox. Coming up with the bases loaded and Salem trailing 4-3, he hit a 2-run single.
In comments to the Salem Daily, Campos admitted that he doesn't always push himself. "But the results," he said, "speak for themselves."
Salem, now 15-45, holds down last place in the Southern Division.
