Nationals Top Frederick, 3-2
|
The Frederick Keys got a sterling performance from pitcher Steve Johns, but the Potomac Nationals still prevailed, 3-2. Johns threw 5.0 innings of 4-hit ball. Todd Gallman, credited with the win, is now 3-1. He allowed no runs on 1 hit. Potomac now owns a record of 29-33.
Potomac used the timely hitting of Rich Cutri to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Nationals on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"It was a test of wills," said Austin Czerwiec, the Potomac skipper. "I'm glad we came out of it with a win."
