Late Rally by Blue Rocks Secures 4-1 Win
|
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Wilmington Blue Rocks and Myrtle Beach Pelicans.
Myrtle Beach got a valiant performance from pitcher Byron Erdner, but it wasn't enough to beat the Wilmington Blue Rocks. Wilmington won the game, 4-1. Erdner threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. The Blue Rocks are now 33-31.
Wilmington needed the clutch hitting of Carlos Luis to notch the win. The second baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Blue Rocks on top, 4-1. For the game, Luis had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We're in a little funk right now and we've just got to get ourselves out of it," said Myrtle Beach manager Pete Wallace.
