Behind the bravura of left fielder Roger Novo, the Salem Red Sox topped the Myrtle Beach Pelicans by the score of 8-6. Novo hit 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice for the Red Sox. Picking up the save was Jose Hoyos, his 3rd. Salem is now 24-44, while Myrtle Beach is 47-21.

With Salem leading 2-1 in the top of the fourth, Novo came up to bat against Myrtle Beach pitcher Jose de los Santos. Novo hit a changeup to center for a grand slam home run. His 2nd home run of the season put the Red Sox on top, 6-1.

"It wasn't a pretty victory," said Novo, "but we got it done."
