|
Wilmington parlayed a decent outing from starter Mike Green into a solid win over the Carolina Mudcats. The final score was 5-2. Green yielded 2 runs over 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 6, and struck out 5. His record improves to 3-0. Francisco Checa notched his 1st save in 1 chances.
Wilmington used the timely hitting of Bobby Brancati to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Blue Rocks on top, 5-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We did the things it takes to win a ballgame," said Wilmington manager Bobby Clontz.
The win boosted Wilmington to 36-35.
