Mudcats Lose at Home, 4-2
|
Gareth Williams, who is tied for 4th in the CAR with a 1.05 WHIP, propelled his team to victory over the Carolina Mudcats. The final score was 4-2, Wilmington. Mike Ruiz was credited with the save for Wilmington, his 4th of the season. At 37-35, the Blue Rocks find themselves in second place in the Northern Division.
Wilmington used a well-timed hit by Jorge Garcia to capture the win. The pinch hitter socked a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Blue Rocks ahead, 3-2. Though it was his only hit in 1 at-bat, it was important.
Wilmington manager Bobby Clontz commended his team for exhibiting "no shortage of effort."
