Red Sox Losers, 4-3, to Myrtle Beach

Though he had a stellar game, Angelo Mastache could not prevent his team, the Salem Red Sox, from losing, 4-3, to the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. Mastache was 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Ben Dolan got the win, improving to 6-2. He pitched 6.1 innings, giving up 9 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 6 and walking 1. Jim Unknown sewed up the save, his 1st.
Eric Stewart had a big run-scoring double for the Pelicans in the top of the sixth inning. With Myrtle Beach leading 3-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from 27-year old right-handed pitcher Ricardo Gutierrez and swatted a double to center. It was his 22nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Pelicans ahead, 4-0.
"Fun game," said Stewart, "even when the outcome was in doubt."
The Pelicans now have a record of 28-44 with the win over Salem.
