Red Sox Drop 6-5 Decision to Hillcats
The Salem Red Sox and Lynchburg Hillcats provided some drama for the home crowd.

The Lynchburg Hillcats picked up a win at Salem Memorial Baseball Stadium, dropping the Salem Red Sox, 6-5. Roberto Fernandez, who is tied for 10th in the CAR with a 2.74 ERA, was the difference-maker. David Tracy nailed down his 1st save.

The Hillcats got a big at-bat from shortstop Mike Laudon. For the game, Laudon went 1-2 with a triple. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the top of the fourth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a bases-clearing triple. His 1st triple of the season gave Lynchburg a 3-1 lead.

"The only difference is executing pitches and not executing pitches," said Fernandez. "When you don't execute, you get beat. When you execute, you usually give your team a chance to win."

The first-place Hillcats now have a win-loss record of 44-29.
