Before the game, Ryan Richardson said he liked his chances. His instincts proved to be right. In a superb outing at Harry Grove Stadium, the Hillcats pitcher blanked the Frederick Keys, 1-0.

"I just had a feeling it was going to be my day," Richardson said in the clubhouse afterward. "My control was awesome. I could throw my fastball even when I was behind in the count."

The Lynchburg starter held Frederick scoreless, giving up 7 hits while registering 3 strikeouts and issuing 5 walks.

"We didn't have very many good at-bats," Keys manager Jeremy Smejkal said in a postgame interview. "When that happens, you usually lose."
