Victory Over Nationals Takes Frederick to 49-26
|
The Frederick Keys weathered a fine game by Potomac second baseman Carlos Mejia to upend the Nationals, 6-3, at Harry Grove Stadium. Mejia was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Nate Kellum, credited with the save, is now 17 for 22 in save opportunities. The Keys sport a record of 49-26.
The Keys got a big at-bat from center fielder Danny Laguna. For the game, Laguna went 1-4 with a triple, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with the bases loaded, he stroked a bases-clearing triple. His 3rd triple of the season gave Frederick a 3-0 lead.
Said Frederick manager Jeremy Smejkal: "At the end of the day, these guys have to perform between the lines, and I think they did."
