Keys Score Late to Beat Mudcats, 2-1
|
The Carolina Mudcats got a superb performance from pitcher Greg Rowley. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Frederick. The Keys won the game, 2-1. Rowley threw 6.0 innings of 4-hit ball. The winner was Frederick reliever Denny McMurtry, now 4-3. The loser was Ersilio Luporini. The first-place Keys lifted their record to 52-26.
Francisco Castro helped his team take an early lead with a run-scoring single. It came in the first inning, making the score 1-0, Keys.
"We hit some balls hard and didn't get rewarded for it," said Carolina manager Jason Hawkins.
