Pelicans Cut Down Nationals, 8-6
|
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Myrtle Beach Pelicans and Potomac Nationals.
Despite a great performance by Potomac catcher Joey Boykin, the Myrtle Beach Pelicans defeated the Nationals by the score of 8-6 at G. Richard Pfitzner Stadium. Boykin went 3 for 4 with a home run and a triple. He scored 2 times. Massimo Sena was the winner in relief. His record is now 2-0. The losing pitcher was Garrett Underwood. Jordan Garcia earned his 2nd save, after closing out the game.
In the top of the third, Jim Unknown delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and the bases loaded, the Myrtle Beach catcher hit a 2-run single, putting the Pelicans in front, 8-6.
"I've been criticized for being a slacker, but the one thing I do care about is winning," Unknown told the Myrtle Beach Today.
Myrtle Beach is now 40-38.
