Mudcats Secure 6-4 Win
|
The Carolina Mudcats defeated the Wilmington Blue Rocks, 6-4, at Grainger Stadium. Carolina was led by 23-year old left fielder Miguel Valadez, who went 2-4 with a home run and a double, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. The second-place Blue Rocks have lost 4 straight games.
Jose Salgado drove in one run for Carolina. With one out and the game tied in the bottom of the sixth inning, Salgado had a clutch at-bat. Facing Wilmington hurler Dan Valencia, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Mudcats a 4-3 lead.
"Feels good to get the job done," Valadez said after the game.
