A 5-RBI performance from third baseman Eddy Delgado, who is tied for 5th in the CAR in stolen bases with 24, led the Myrtle Beach Pelicans to a win over the Wilmington Blue Rocks, 8-7. The win belonged to Jim Unknown in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Joel Wiegand took the loss for Wilmington.

The game was decided with one out in the bottom of the ninth. With Myrtle Beach trailing 7-5, Delgado jumped on a cutter from 27-year old right-handed pitcher Joel Wiegand and hit a 3-run home run to left-center. With one swing, the Pelicans had a walk-off win.

"This place sure got loud," said Valentino Garzelli, the Myrtle Beach manager.

After today's action, Myrtle Beach sits at 35-45, while Wilmington falls to 50-30.
