The Carolina Mudcats wiggled past the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, 4-3, at TicketReturn.com Field at Pelicans Ballpark. The win was highlighted by the performance of Carolina pitcher Hector Marquez. Toshiya Jikihara picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 4-1. Sergio Gaona suffered the loss. The Mudcats now own a record of 41-42.

Carolina used the timely hitting of Mike Mordaunt to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put the Mudcats on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"We did a lot of things right," said Marquez.
