The Lynchburg Hillcats met little resistance from the Potomac Nationals, beating them, 11-1, at G. Richard Pfitzner Stadium. Brent Phelps led the way. He went 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 3 and driving in 4 for Lynchburg. Hugo Quevedo, who went 8 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 1 run on 5 hits, while walking 4 and striking out 12. His record now stands at 6-3. The Hillcats improved their record to 51-32 by beating Potomac.

Early in the game, Phelps had a grand slam home run for Lynchburg. It was his 6th home run of the season and put the Hillcats on top, 4-0.
