The Potomac Nationals knocked off the Salem Red Sox, 7-2, in Carolina League action at G. Richard Pfitzner Stadium. Potomac pitcher and Los Ríos, Dominican Republic, native Carlos Miera had an outstanding performance. Miera, who is tied for 4th in the CAR in innings pitched with 102.2, went the distance for Potomac. He gave up 2 runs on 6 hits. The third-place Nationals improved to 43-44.

Frenk Beltman hit a 3-run home run off Brett Hinders in the bottom of the fifth, which put the Nationals ahead, 5-2. In addition to the homer, Beltman had 1 double, while going 2 for 4.

"Carlos was in attack mode the whole game," said Potomac manager Cruz Mares.
