The Wilmington Blue Rocks topped the Winston-Salem Dash, 6-5, in Carolina League action at Daniel S. Frawley Stadium. The game was highlighted by the performance of Wilmington pitcher Brad Smithwick. Wilmington now owns a record of 50-37.

Gabe Shepherd was the walk-off hero for Wilmington. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Blue Rocks pinch hitter hit a dramatic solo home run to send the teams home.

"Our goal is to improve each and every day," Shepherd told the Wilmington Daily News.
