Carolina third baseman Tom Soucy had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Soucy was 2 for 3 with a triple and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once, even as Frederick beat the Mudcats, 5-3. The second-place Mudcats have lost 4 consecutive games.

Stéphane Nicolas helped out the Frederick cause in the bottom of the seventh inning with a 2-run triple. For the game, the shortstop was 1-4 with a triple and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.

"You can't take yourself too seriously," Nicolas told the Frederick News. "But at the end of the day, we do play to win ballgames."
