Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Blue Rocks
The Myrtle Beach Pelicans got a superb performance from pitcher Tilmão Vicente, but the Wilmington Blue Rocks still won the game, 3-2. Vicente threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball. Garrett Youngblood earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 3 innings. He upped his record to 7-5. The defeat makes Myrtle Beach 61-29.

Alex Calderon had a direct impact on the outcome. Calderon contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put Wilmington up, 3-2.

"You've got to ride the highs and the lows in baseball in order to succeed," Calderon told the Wilmington Daily News. "Right now I'm feeling good, but that don't mean squat for tomorrow."
