Carolina Mudcats starter Marc Anderson pitched a strong game against the Lynchburg Hillcats at Grainger Stadium, leading the Mudcats to victory, 3-2. Guillermo Rodriguez picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 4-7. Juan Benitez was tagged with the loss. The last-place Mudcats are 20-72.

The game was at a stalemate until center fielder Cesar Flores came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Lynchburg pitcher Juan Benitez, he hit a 2-0 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Carolina on top, 3-2.

"We were in it," said Lynchburg manager Josh Anthony. "We just didn't score enough runs."
