Nationals Take Down Red Sox, 2-1
|
The Potomac Nationals picked up a win at Salem Memorial Baseball Stadium, knocking off the Salem Red Sox, 2-1. On the mound for Potomac was right-hander Jorge Salas. He played a key role in the triumph. The Nationals improved their record to 45-48 with the win over Salem.
Potomac used the timely hitting of Daniel Steens to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Nationals on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Tough win," said Steens. "We had to earn it."
