The home crowd had a good time watching the Winston-Salem Dash and Wilmington Blue Rocks get after it.

The Wilmington Blue Rocks overcame a good performance by Winston-Salem shortstop Enrique Diaz to knock off Winston-Salem, 8-3, at Daniel S. Frawley Stadium. Diaz belted 2 home runs. The second-place Blue Rocks sport a record of 52-48.

The Dash had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Blue Rocks going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 23-year old third baseman Shane Watrous came to the plate. Watrous hit a 2-run home run on a 1-0 fastball from Winston-Salem hurler Diego Puete. It was Watrous's 16th home run of the year.

"There's a lot of fight left in this team," said Watrous.
