Pelicans Handle Keys, 5-0
|
The Myrtle Beach Pelicans beat the Frederick Keys, 5-0. Myrtle Beach pitcher and Columbus, Ohio, native Joe Edwards led the way. Edwards, now 5-2, was the winner. In 5.2 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 7, walking 1, and allowing no runs. At 47-54, the Pelicans find themselves in second place in the Southern Division.
The Pelicans got a big at-bat from left fielder Gil Flores, who in the top of the second hit a 2-run home run. It was his 8th home run of the season and put the Pelicans on top, 2-0.
"Winning is not something we take for granted," Flores said.
