The Salem Red Sox knocked off the Wilmington Blue Rocks, 3-1, in Carolina League action at Daniel S. Frawley Stadium. Salem pitcher and Sanger, California, native Brett Hinders had an outstanding performance. Hinders got the win, improving to 5-7. He gave up 4 hits and walked 2 over 7 innings. He allowed 1 run. Reynaldo Munoz earned the save for Salem, his 3rd.
Jose Roman hit a run-scoring triple off Brent Graham in the top of the first, which put the Red Sox in front, 1-0. Roman had 1 walk, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 1 for 3.
"I just made my pitches," said Hinders, "and the ball kept missing the bat."
The setback makes Wilmington 50-51.
