Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Carolina Mudcats and Frederick Keys.
Carolina picked up a win at Grainger Stadium, bumping off the Frederick Keys, 6-4. Pitcher Manny de Luna was a major reason the Mudcats emerged victorious. Carolina reliever Manny de Luna got the win, raising his record to 8-3. David Tracy was tagged with the loss. Getting the save was Matt Bolte, his 3rd.
Jose Mora had a big run-scoring double for the Mudcats in the bottom of the second inning. With Carolina leading 2-1 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from 22-year old right-handed pitcher David Tracy and swatted a double to right. It was his 5th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Mudcats ahead, 3-1.
"Manny -- his tempo and rhythm were good," said Mudcats manager Jason Hawkins. "He was the key to us winning."
Carolina is now 54-51.
