Keys Defeated, 6-1
|
Fans were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown Frederick Keys take on the Lynchburg Hillcats.
Lynchburg Hillcats starter Andy Nieto turned a whale of an effort into a win over the Frederick Keys. The final score was 6-1, Lynchburg. Nieto went the distance for Lynchburg. He gave up 1 run on 2 hits.
Lynchburg used a well-timed hit by Oscar Fuentes to capture the win. The shortstop socked a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Hillcats ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"I just tried to stick to my strengths," said Nieto.
The Hillcats have an impressive 67-40 record.
