Nationals Curb Dash, 7-4
|
G. Richard Pfitzner Stadium was the site for Carolina League action featuring the Winston-Salem Dash and Potomac Nationals.
Getting offensive support from Jorge Ruiz, the Potomac Nationals topped the Winston-Salem Dash, 7-4. Ruiz was 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 for the Nationals. Jose Saucedo finished to wrap up his 8th save.
Potomac left fielder Bill Wessels contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two down, he hit a knuckle curve into left-center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 51st hit of the season and put the Nationals ahead, 2-1.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Ruiz. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
The third-place Dash have lost 4 straight games.
