The Lynchburg Hillcats dealt the Winston-Salem Dash a 6-5 loss at BB&T Ballpark. Fernando Osoria was the star on offense. He went 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Alex Gomez, the winner, is now 10-5. He struck out 6 and walked 3 over 7 innings, while allowing 3 runs on 10 hits. Jeff Lehman, credited with the save, is now 2 for 2 in save opportunities.

With Lynchburg leading 4-2 in the top of the fifth, Osoria hit a run-scoring single off Winston-Salem hurler David Fuentes. It was the 82nd hit of the season for Osoria and put his team ahead, 5-2.

"We took advantage of our opportunities," Osoria told the Lynchburg News. "It's as simple as that."

The third-place Dash now sit at 59-55.
