Mudcats Stick Pelicans with 2-1 Loss
The Myrtle Beach Pelicans wasted an inspired, 9-inning effort from starter Devon Speight, falling, 2-1, to the Carolina Mudcats at TicketReturn.com Field at Pelicans Ballpark. Manuel Carrasco earned his 13th save, after closing out the game. The Mudcats raised their record to 72-42.

Carolina used a well-timed hit by Michael Yoss to capture the win. The shortstop socked a run-scoring double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Mudcats ahead, 2-1. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.

"Good ballgame," said Myrtle Beach manager Pete Wallace. "But we came up on the short end."
