Blue Rocks Drop Nationals, 5-1
|
Wilmington Blue Rocks starter Stephen Rozier pitched his team past the Potomac Nationals, 5-1. The winner was Rozier. He threw 8.0 innings of 6-hit ball. The loser was Alex Azucena. With the win, Wilmington goes to 57-58, while the Nationals fall to 41-74.
Danny Campos had a big run-scoring double for the Blue Rocks in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Wilmington leading 2-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from Alex Azucena, who is tied for 10th in the CAR in innings pitched with 131.1, and swatted a double to left. It was his 9th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Blue Rocks ahead, 3-1.
"It's about putting our team in the best position to win ballgames," said Rozier.
