The Winston-Salem Dash picked up a win at TicketReturn.com Field at Pelicans Ballpark, taking down the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, 4-1. Starting pitcher Pedro Moreno was a big reason why. Moreno, now 7-6, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. Dave Perez closed the door for Winston-Salem, picking up his 22nd save of the year.
Miguel Becerra, who is tied for 3rd in the CAR in RBI with 48, had a direct impact on the outcome. Becerra contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put Winston-Salem up, 1-0.
"We scored more than enough runs this time," said Winston-Salem manager Sam Simmons. "Now watch. The next game we'll probably struggle to get a base hit."
At 60-55, Winston-Salem is in third place in the Southern Division.
