Myrtle Beach turned a good performance from starting pitcher Clint Madore into a 4-2 triumph over the Potomac Nationals at G. Richard Pfitzner Stadium. Madore yielded 2 runs over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 4, and struck out 3. His record improves to 15-5. The first-place Pelicans improved to 80-38.
The Pelicans had to work out of trouble with no one out in the bottom of the ninth. The score was 4-2, Myrtle Beach. But Potomac, with the bases empty, had mounted a threat. Matt Wilson dug in at the plate. But on a first pitch fastball, Wilson lined out.
