Frederick pitcher Moises Flores had a large part in his team beating the Potomac Nationals, 7-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. The winner was Flores. He threw 7.2 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Bobby Diaz. Frederick, at 76-43, sits in first place in the Northern Division.

Willie Brena had a big 3-run home run for the Keys in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Frederick leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a sinker from 21-year old left-handed pitcher Bobby Diaz and punished it. The result was his 3rd home run of the season, which put the Keys on top, 5-0.

"I loved our energy," said Frederick manager Jeremy Smejkal. "I loved the way we played."
