Dash 5-3 Winners Over Wilmington
|
Starting pitcher Diego Puete pitched well enough to help the Winston-Salem Dash beat the Wilmington Blue Rocks, 5-3. Puete, now 9-4, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 9, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. Dave Perez was credited with the save for Winston-Salem, his 18th of the season.
In the top of the sixth, Winston-Salem designated hitter Guillermo Antelo had a productive at-bat. With runners on 2nd and 3rd and two out, Antelo stroked a 2-run single to center. It made the score 5-2, Winston-Salem. For the game, he was 2 for 5 with 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"I had one goal in mind," said Puete. "Keep pounding the zone."
The Dash saw their record improve to 72-48.
