Keys Lick Blue Rocks, 5-1
|
The home crowd had a good time watching the Wilmington Blue Rocks and Frederick Keys get after it.
The Frederick Keys knocked off the Wilmington Blue Rocks, 5-1, in Carolina League action at Harry Grove Stadium. Frederick pitcher and Watertown, Massachusetts, native Sean Bartholomew had an outstanding performance. Bartholomew picked up the win for Frederick, going 7 innings. He gave up 1 run on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 14-5.
John Puffer had a big 3-run home run for the Keys in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Frederick leading 2-1 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he sized up a changeup from 26-year old left-handed pitcher Gus Solis and punished it. The result was his 10th home run of the season, which put the Keys on top, 5-1.
"It's good to win," Puffer told the Frederick Observer. "I like to have fun doing it."
The Keys saw their win-loss record go to 77-46. At the same time, the Blue Rocks fell to 54-69.
