Mudcats Win by Slim Margin, 6-5
|
The Carolina Mudcats had to overcome a big game from Winston-Salem right fielder Jordan Quezada to leave BB&T Ballpark with a victory. And they did, winning, 6-5, in 10 innings. Quezada was 2 for 3 with a triple and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Carolina reliever Gerbrand Schelling picked up the win, upping his record to 6-4. Alfredo Arredondo took the loss. Logan Samels notched his 3rd save in 3 chances.
Carolina used the timely hitting of Nick Fraley to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Mudcats on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
Fraley told reporters after the game: "This one was touch and go, but we were able to put it in the win column."
The win hiked the Carolina record to 66-57.
