In a tight game between the Salem Red Sox and the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, pitcher Allan Corbin was terrific on the mound. The Salem left-hander helped his team to the 3-1 win. Earning his 1st save of the year was Giuseppe Deganello. The third-place Red Sox now sit at 53-72.

Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Ray Valentin? The Salem center fielder had a run-scoring double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Red Sox on top, 2-1. For the game, Valentin had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"I like what I saw today," said Salem manager Arturo Cobian, "and I can't wait to get back out there and do it again."
