Mudcats Take Down Pelicans, 9-8
Extra innings were needed to determine a winner at Grainger Stadium.

In a tight contest at Grainger Stadium, the Carolina Mudcats edged the Myrtle Beach Pelicans by the score of 9-8 in 11 innings. Carolina first baseman Mike Sloan, who blasted 1 home run, was a key contributor. The Mudcats saw their record improve to 70-56.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 11th inning, when Carolina pinch hitter Chris Gautreaux, facing Blake Patterson, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Mudcats the 9-8 win.

"This game tested our mettle," said Gautreaux.
