Kerkhof Excels, But Red Sox Win
The Salem Red Sox had to overcome a big game from Wilmington designated hitter Remie Kerkhof to leave Daniel S. Frawley Stadium with a victory. And they did, winning, 8-7. Kerkhof slugged 2 home runs, while scoring 3 times and driving in 5. Salem reliever Jim Howe was the winner. His record is now 1-1. Justin Franklin took the loss. Danny Ayala got credit for the save for Salem. It was his 2nd of the year.

Salem took control in the top of the seventh. With one out and the bases loaded, Emmanuel Camacho hit a 2-run single to make it 6-4, Red Sox.

"Nothing is scripted in this game," said Camacho.

The last-place Red Sox are now 47-79, the Blue Rocks 58-68.
